Guoul Guoul Guoula is a song performed by Gilles de Rais, Elizabeth Bathory, Mandrake and the Samael Quartet. In the revised edition, Elizabeth is replaced by de Brinvilliers. This is a song made out of puns. A number precedes most lines and the sounds of this number are repeated in the same line. The phrase “Ten ni tsuba suru” has a double meaning here. It is an idiomatic expression that means “to harm another, harms one’s self” but literally means “spit into the sky”. In this song, the performers use the phrase as an affront to the Abrahamic God, but equally, in doing so, they are merely harming themselves.
